As you all know, I am always searching for the next best hot sauce, and I am super excited to share a new hot sauce review today. I just got a bottle of Gator Hammock Hot Sauce for the first time yesterday. It is called “Swamp Gator”.
I had to go to a doctor in a neighboring town yesterday, and after my appointment stopped by a market I don’t usually go to. They have a pretty good selection of hot sauce here, so whenever I am in the area, and have time, I like to check it out and see if they have anything new I would like to try.
On this particular occasion I decided to go with the Gator Hammock Swamp Gator Hot Sauce. I was a little skeptical, because the first item on the ingredient list is Louisiana Style Hot Sauce ingredients. I try to steer clear of these types of sauces a lot of the time, because they all taste very similar…basically a variation of Frank’s Original hot sauce. I love this flavor, but I really only like it on chicken, and I am more interested in finding hot sauces that are good on steak. A good hot sauce to accent red meat is much harder to find, is always on the top of my ultimate hot sauce quest.
However, the ingredients also included some unusual items, like key lime juice, red habanero peppers, and granulated garlic. Plus, the sauce itself looked yummy and different than most cayenne (Louisiana Style) hot sauces. So I bucked up and went for it.
We had some leftover steak and decided to make steak tacos for dinner last night, but I put some pieces off to the side to try with my new hot sauce. Awesomely, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Swamp Gator hot sauce was actually really great tasting and went wonderfully with the steak!
It has a nice kick to it and really good flavor. It has a bit of a garlicky smell and taste to it, which probably is a big part of why it goes so well with steak. I am not a fan of sriracha sauce, which is touted as a garlic hot sauce, so know that it doesn’t taste like sriracha. It has it’s own unique, savory flavor. I tried it on the taco, and I didn’t think it went well with the mix of ingredients there. But that is just fine with me, because there are a ton of hot sauces that taste good on tacos, and very few that go well with steak or tri tip.
As the name suggests, the sauce comes from gator country…specifically Felda, FL. After looking into their company at gatorhammock.com I found that they actually have several different award winning products. I can’t wait to try them all!
I put a link here to them on amazon if you would like to check it out for yourself. This hot sauce is reasonably priced and definitely worth giving a try. You can order from them directly also, but it takes up to 3 weeks and you have to order at least 6 items.
I hope you give the Swamp Gator sauce a try. It is one of the best hot sauces I have tried in a long time. I also put some of their other products here, so you can check those out to you if you would like.
If you have any questions or comments I would love to hear from you! Please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you asap! And make sure to let me know what you think after you give this hot sauce a try.
