Time for a new Hot Sauce Review! Today I will be letting you all know about the Secret Aardvark Serrabanero Green Hot Sauce. I have tried a couple of their other flavors, and am always excited to get the chance to try something different and new. So, bring it on Serrabanero. Let’s see what you got!
Hard to find Greatness
I am always on the hunt for a good green sauce to add to my repertoire of hot sauces. It constantly amazes me how difficult it is to find really good hot sauces. I guess that means that it must be hard to make a good hot sauce. The other options seem to be that either people just don’t know what the heck they are doing, or their taste buds come from a different planet. Sooo many hot sauces that I try are just plain nasty!
I have honestly probably tasted at least 30 or so hot sauces in the past couple years that I haven’t even posted on here, because they were so horrible and seemingly created with so little love that they didn’t even deserve the attention.
Believe it or not, I feel pretty bad if I trash talk a hot sauce. Especially if I feel like the creators actually truly tried to create something good. That being said, I owe it to my readers to be honest about what I experience when I try a new hot sauce…I mean that is why I am doing all of this after all.
On with the “Serrabanero”
I bought this hot sauce a couple weeks ago. The first night I tried it on some pork I had made. I had had a couple beers, and I think that must have affected my tasting abilities. I used probably 1/4 of the bottle in that one night. I thought it was super delicious and couldn’t stop using a glob of it on every bite. I was really stoked that I found a great new green hot sauce!
However, a couple days later (and a few more times since then), I have kept trying to use it on different foods, and I just don’t seem to care for it. It may be that it just happened to pair well with the exact flavors of the meal I ate that first night, or it may be that my intoxicated taste buds were leading me on.
Need to find the perfect mate
I should mention that when I first tried the original Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce, I was not a fan. Through continued experimentation, however, I found that it makes a killer cocktail sauce for shrimp. I am actually almost out it and will absolutely be buying a new bottle of it soon.
So, it may be that I just need to figure out exactly what I was eating that first night to find the Serrabanero’s perfect mate. I wasn’t really paying attention at the time, because it tasted so good to me I didn’t think I would not like it later on. By the time I went to try it again a few days later, and didn’t like it, I couldn’t remember exactly what I was eating the first night, but I am pretty sure I had grilled some kind of pork that day.
Tasting Secret Aardvark Serrabanero Green Hot Sauce
It has kind of a strange funk to it. I would say, maybe a little bit smokey.
I have tried it on my usuals…tacos, burritos, and chicken recently…all a no-go for a match with its flavor profile.
My girlfriend, who basically only likes mild green sauces, isn’t a fan either. She doesn’t like the flavor and it is too spicy for her.
To me, it has a little spice to it, but I wouldn’t call it “spicy” by any means.
